Gunpla - #19 - Nissin Cup Noodle Gunpla Limited 2013 (1/380 scale) Review

I just could not help myself from buying them. Not really because I like to eat the noodles, but I just wanted to know what kind of special kits included with the packages. Damn you curiosity !!

Anyway, these kits are limited. I don't know how long they will be available in the market. And since I 'm still on my business visit in Japan until the beginning of June, I decided to bought all of them. There are three kinds of them, RX-78-2 Gundam (yellow), Char's Gelgoog (red) and Zaku (green). I bought them at 7 Eleven with the price of 578 yen for each noodle cup. By buying these noodles, I also got three special coupons for door prize. I had no idea what kind of door prize it was (because the waiter spoke in Japanese), but I got two bottles of coffee and mineral water from it.

Are these gunplas 'worthy' enough to be one of your collection ? Well, to make it short, I will combine the review for all of them in this post.

1. RX-78-2 Gundam

The package contains 4 runners with 1 manual. All of the runners are clear ones, and well ... so tiny. 

The building process was easy. I could finish it within 10 minutes. Because the runners are so tiny, you just have to be careful while removing the parts from them. Anyway, here's the special thing about these kits :

A special runner for kettle ! You also got a beam rifle and a shield as accessories. And .. here's the complete model:

You could switch the beam rifle with the kettle. Yes, the kettle. The gundam wants to eat noodle. LOL.

Articulation wise, just not hoping too much for this kit. Almost no articulation other than swinging the hands and feet forward and backward, or turning the head left or right.

2. Char's Gelgoog

Next. The red comet's Gelgoog. Same as its 'brother', this kit contains 4 runners and 1 manual.

The building process was also easy. The special thing *other than the freaking kettle* is, you'll got more accessories with this kit. There are a shield, a twin beam sword and a rifle. And here's the complete model :

3. Zaku

And finally, the good ol' Zaku. Same as the others, it contains 4 clear runners and 1 manual. 

Compared to his brothers, the Zaku only given 1 accessory other than kettle; the heat axe. The shield's been actually fused with the right arm. And here's the complete model:

These kits are 1/380 model, thus they are tinier than your thumb. Standing together, the Gelgoog is the biggest among them, followed by Gundam and Zaku.

Here's the size comparison with my 1/100 MG Duel Gundam.

Final toughts :

Despite their tiny size and articulation problems, well, these kits are limited models. Unless you're a gunpla fan, limited model collector or just hungry person (LOL), I suppose you could skip buying them. In my opinion, the price is a little expensive for a tiny gunpla, especially when you're not a noodle eater, and just look after the kit itself. You could buy a normal HG kit with cheaper price than buying all three of these limited model. Well ... if you truly want to collect them, just pick only one. I would choose Gelgoog, because it's the biggest and has more accessories than others.

However, that's my opinion. The choices are yours :-)

Cons :

• Very very very tiny kit and too few accessories.
• Articulation ? Forget it.
• Quite expensive for a tiny kit.

Membuat Matriks Kosong Multidimensi Di Matlab

I hate Matlab. Fortran forever ! Heheheh ... tp apa daya, harus tetap pake matlab.

Postingan singkat ini cuma buat ngingatin diri sendiri cara untuk bikin matriks kosong multidimensi di Matlab, tanpa pake fungsi zero (yg cuma matriks 3x3), pake looping dll. Kosong bukan berarti nggak ada nilainya, tapi bernilai 0. Nantinya nilai ini bisa diubah-ubah lagi sesukanya.

Pertama tentukan dimensi matriksnya. Misal mau bikin matriks kosong 2 dimensi, dengan 1440 baris dan 320 kolom :

kosong(1440,320)=0;

Maka matlab akan membuat matriks 1440x320 yg semua isinya 0. Kalo ingin mengganti semua nilai pada baris dan kolom menjadi suatu nilai, misal -9999,  tinggal tulis :

kosong(:,:)=-9999;

And, done !

Gunpla - #18 - HGUC Geara Zulu Review

Geara Zulu is the mass productive mobile suit of "The Sleeves" and the descendant of Geara Doga and Zaku. If you look at this kit closely, maybe you'll notice that it resembles German's storm trooper during WWII LOL.

As a grunt suit, while the arsenals are almost same, Geara Zulu looks much slimmer than the previous Geara Doga. It's equipped with 1 beam rifle (resembles AK-47 ?), grenade launcher (integrated to the rifle) sturm faust (looks like bazooka?), extra magazines, hand grenades, beam tomahawk and of course, a shoulder shield. 

As the other Sleeves' type kits, the only complaint came from the stickers. Sooo many stickers. Much more than the previous Zee Zulu. Anyway, I really like the design of Geara Zulu. Somehow, it looks much more menacing than the original Zaku, less than Geara Doga though. The proportion is really good.

Articulation for this kit so-so. Not so good, but not so bad either. It could do several cool poses with the rifle, sturm faust and others. 

The accessories are awesome. I love the beam rifle and hand grenades. However, i think the extra magazines are way too big and make this kit look "awkward". Hence, I usually dismount them for posing purpose. IMHO, Geara Zulu looks better without those magazines.

Overall, Geara Zulu is a very good kit, especially for the Sleeves' grunt suits fan. Personally, in term of originality, color scheme, and accessories, I prefer Zee Zulu design over it.

Tips Memilih Kursi Pesawat Terbang

Sebagian besar dari anda mungkin sudah terbiasa bepergian dengan pesawat terbang, terutama yang berhubungan dengan penempatan kursi di pesawat pada saat Check-in. Untuk tiap maskapai, peraturan mengenai tempat duduk di pesawat ini bisa berbeda-beda. Ada yang tidak pakai nomor kursi (kayak di bis), ada yang bisa pilih kursi, dan ada juga yang tidak bisa pilih kursi lagi (sudah fixed pada saat beli tiket). Tulisan ini ditujukan khusus untuk anda yang masih bisa memilih kursi di pesawat pada saat check-in atau ketika membeli tiket. Mungkin tidak ada bukti ilmiah untuk ini, namun dari sudut pandang pribadi dan pengalaman saya, posisi duduk kita di pesawat memiliki banyak pengaruh, tidak hanya dari segi kenyamanan saja, tapi juga dari sisi keamanan dan keselamatan dalam penerbangan. Well, hidup mati memang Tuhan yang menentukan, namun saya pikir tidak ada salahnya kalau kita bisa mengantisipasi hal-hal yang tidak diinginkan pada saat berada di pesawat. Mungkin bermanfaat untuk anda yang biasa bepergian dengan pesawat terbang :-)

A. POSISI DASAR

Kita mulai dari posisi dasar tempat duduk di dalam pesawat. Pada dasarnya ada tiga posisi dasar, yaitu pada bagian depan, tengah, dan belakang pesawat. Berikut karakteristiknya.

1. Depan

• Posisi ini umumnya tepat berada di belakang kokpit pilot dan kabin kru pesawat. Dan untuk pesawat berbadan sempit (misal Boeing 737), posisi ini dekat dengan toilet dan pintu pesawat.
• Umumnya merupakan tempat duduk kelas bisnis. Namun tidak jarang pula menjadi tempat duduk kelas ekonomi untuk (pesawat yang hanya punya kelas ekonomi).
• Untuk pesawat jet, faktor kebisingan akibat suara mesin pesawat relatif kecil karena berada di depan mesin, sehingga posisi ini paling nyaman untuk ngobrol, mendengar musik, atau tidur.
• Posisi terbaik untuk melihat pemandangan di luar jendela pesawat.
• Posisi terbaik untuk penumpang yang butuh bantuan khusus seperti lansia, ibu hamil atau penumpang yang sedang sakit.
• Posisi terbaik untuk anda yang ingin cepat turun dari pesawat setelah mendarat.
• Meskipun nyaman, menurut Popularmechanics.com, survival rate atau tingkat keselamatan untuk penumpang yang duduk pada posisi ini pada saat kecelakaan adalah yang paling rendah dibandingkan posisi lainnya, yaitu 49%. Artinya peluang selamatnya kurang lebih 50-50.

2. Tengah

• Berada di sekitar sayap pesawat. Posisinya paling dekat dengan mesin, sehingga lebih bising dibandingkan kursi depan.
• Untuk pesawat berbadan sempit, posisi ini paling jauh dari toilet dan kru pesawat.
• Posisi terburuk untuk melihat pemandangan di luar pesawat, karena terhalang sayap.
• Karena roda utama pesawat berada di bagian tengah, maka efek guncangan pada saat mendarat akan paling terasa di posisi ini.
• Posisi paling baik bagi penumpang yang mudah mabuk udara, karena efek turbulensi di posisi ini lebih kecil dibandingkan posisi lainnya.
• Berada paling dekat dengan jendela darurat dibandingkan posisi lain. Pada pesawat berbadan lebar, terdapat beberapa kursi khusus dengan ruang lebih lowong untuk akses ke jendela darurat. Kondisi ini jelas lebih nyaman untuk penumpang kelas ekonomi, namun bila menggunakan maskapai asing, biasanya anda akan dikenakan tarif tambahan bila ingin duduk di kursi-kursi jenis ini.
• Posisi paling buruk untuk penumpang yang baru naik atau hendak turun, karena posisinya paling jauh dari pintu pesawat.
• Survival rate 56%. Lebih tinggi dibandingkan posisi duduk di depan pesawat. 

3. Belakang

• Berada di sekitar ekor pesawat. Dekat dengan toilet dan kabin kru pesawat.
• Posisi paling bising untuk pesawat jet, karena tepat berada di belakang mesin.
• Kurang baik untuk melihat pemandangan di luar pesawat, karena masih terhalang sayap.
• Dekat dengan pintu belakang pesawat, cocok untuk penumpang yang hendak cepat turun dari pesawat setelah mendarat (dengan catatan, pintu belakang ikut dibuka untuk menurunkan penumpang).
• Posisi paling belakang umumnya memiliki ruang paling sempit, mengikuti bentuk bodi aerodinamis pesawat.
• Walaupun kurang nyaman, survival rate untuk posisi ini paling tinggi dibandingkan posisi lain, yaitu sebesar 69%. Artinya peluang selamat apabila terjadi kecelakaan cukup besar untuk penumpang yang  duduk di bagian belakang pesawat.

B. POSISI PER BARIS

Pada umumnya posisi tempat duduk dalam 1 baris kursi terbagi 3-3 (3 tempat duduk di tiap sisi), yaitu : Jendela (Window), Tengah (Middle) dan Jalan (Aisle). Pada pesawat yang lebih kecil, konfigurasi ini bisa berubah menjadi 2-2, yaitu : Jendela dan Aisle, atau 2-3 (campuran konfigurasi 2-2 dan 3-3). Untuk pesawat berbadan lebar, konfigurasinya bisa menjadi 3-3-3 atau 3-4-3, dengan 3 atau 4 kursi tambahan di bagian tengah dan 2 Aisle (jalan yang membagi tiap baris kursi). Tapi mau bagaimanapun konfigurasinya, yang paling dasar adalah 3 kursi yang telah disebutkan di awal tadi. Berikut karakteristiknya :

Yang saya tuliskan di sini adalah untuk kelas ekonomi. Kode posisi bisa berubah tergantung oleh maskapai dari pesawat yang bersangkutan.

1. Jendela (Window)

• Posisi terbaik untuk melihat pemandangan di luar pesawat karena paling dekat dengan jendela.
• Posisi terburuk untuk penumpang yang doyan ke toilet atau penumpang untuk penerbangan jarak jauh.
• Posisi terbaik untuk penerbangan jarak dekat atau untuk penumpang yang tidak ingin banyak bergerak (misalnya tidur saja selama di pesawat).
• Untuk konfigurasi 3-3 (Boeing 737 series, Airbus A319-A321), maka kode hurufnya umumnya adalah A (sisi kiri) dan F (sisi kanan).
• Untuk konfigurasi 2-4-2 (Airbus A330, A340) kode umumnya adalah A dan J/K.
• Untuk konfigurasi 3-3-3 (Boeing 777 series), kode umumnya adalah A dan J.
• Untuk konfigurasi 3-4-3 (Boeing 747-400, Airbus A380), kode umumnya adalah A dan K. 

2. Tengah (Middle)

• Menurut saya, posisi ini adalah posisi terburuk dalam satu baris kursi. Tidak hanya karena ruang gerak yang terbatas, tapi juga karena sukar melihat pemandangan dan sekaligus sukar untuk berdiri untuk ke toilet atau sekedar meregangkan badan. 
• Bila bepergian dengan grup/teman, posisi ini relatif nyaman (untuk ngobrol atau bercanda).
• Untuk konfigurasi 3-3, kode umumnya adalah B dan E.
• Untuk konfigurasi 2-4-2, kode umumnya adalah E dan F.
• Untuk konfigurasi 3-3-3, kode umumnya adalah B, E dan H.
• Untuk konfigurasi 3-4-3, kode umumnya adalah B, E, F dan J.

3. Jalan (Aisle)

• Berada persis di sebelah jalan (Aisle), sehingga paling nyaman untuk ke toilet atau untuk penerbangan jarak jauh.
• Posisi terburuk untuk penumpang yang ingin melihat pemandangan di luar pesawat.
• Untuk konfigurasi 3-3, kode umumnya adalah C dan D.
• Untuk konfigurasi 2-4-2, kode umumnya adalah B, C, G dan H.
• Untuk konfigurasi 3-3-3, kode umumnya adalah C, D, F dan G.
• Untuk konfigurasi 3-4-3, kode umumnya adalah C, D, G dan H.

KESIMPULAN

• Posisi paling nyaman adalah tempat duduk di bagian depan pesawat. Posisi ini juga paling baik bagi lansia, ibu hamil atau penumpang yang sedang sakit karena lebih dekat dengan kabin kru pesawat dan akses ke pintu keluar.
• Anda mudah mabuk udara atau takut ketinggian ? Pilih tempat duduk di bagian tengah pesawat.
• Posisi teraman (berdasarkan survival rate) adalah tempat duduk di bagian belakang pesawat dan di bagian tengah dekat jendela darurat.
• Bila anda ingin ruang lebih lowong walau harus membayar lebih mahal ? Pilih kursi di sekitar jendela darurat.
• Bila anda dalam penerbangan jarak dekat, ingin istirahat tidak terganggu atau suka melihat pemandangan di luar pesawat, pilih kursi dekat jendela.
• Untuk penerbangan jarak jauh atau bila anda doyan ke toilet, pilih kursi di dekat aisle, untuk menghindari Fatal Blood Syndrome, yang umumnya bisa terjadi akibat kita kurang bergerak pada saat dalam penerbangan.
• Ingin selalu duduk dekat jendela ? Pilih kursi dengan kode A. Kode F umumnya tidak selalu berarti dekat jendela, tergantung pada jenis pesawat atau konfigurasi dari maskapai.
• Ingin selalu duduk dekat jalan (aisle) ? Pilih kursi dengan kode C.

Gunpla - #17 - HG GN Sword IV Full Saber Review

Just bought it from an online shop, and as one of rare kits (it came together with Hobby Magazine, I don't remember which issue), I was so satisfied to get this. GN Sword IV Full Saber is originally an add-on for HG 1/144 00 Quanta, the successor of 00 Gundam. However, I was curious to utilize the giant sword with my 00 Seven Sword (00SS). My 00SS was originally upgraded with 0 Raiser, hence, why not upgraded it once more with this sword ?

There are only 2 runners inside the box, the blue parts and a clear green parts. The construction was actually easy. However, because there were no manuals inside, you should at least use internet to find it. Finally, I found the manual, but the instructions was not explained well as the normal kit manual. This caused several issues while building the sword. I accidentally broke one of three smaller clear blades of the sword, because I did not fully understand some chinese instructions in the manual. Luckily, I could still glue it. And here is the result :

00 Raiser + 9 Swords

00 is just awesome. Endless upgrade, excellent stability. I wonder, what it will be look like when I combine it with XN-Raiser. Just wait and see ... :-D

Gunpla - #16 - HGUC Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode) Review

The last Gundam in my collection. Unicorn was my first HGUC kit from Unicorn series which I bought originally because of its psycho frame. It looks totally cool and unique, compared with any other conventional gundam designs. The "cracks" and bright red psycho frame all over its body just like tell anybody : "Don't mess up with me !" :-D

Despite its complicated looks, the construction itself was actually simple and easy. There are 7 runners inside the box and one foil sticker. The most distinct one is of course, the red clear runner for psycho frame. Oh yeah, there are no runners for beam saber. Why did Bandai exclude the beam saber from this kit ? Actually, HGUC Unicorn was released in two version, Destroy and Unicorn mode, because HG lacks the transformation feature of MG. Hence, there are some parts which will not included, if you buy only one version. Simply speaking, if you want the beam sabers or bazooka for Unicorn, you should also buy the Unicorn mode kit. Smart marketing strategy from Bandai for making money. Anyway, you could still use beam saber's from other UC kits (e.g. Jesta) since they are matched with Unicorn beam sabers hilt. There are totally 4 hilts for Unicorn, 2 on the back and 2 on the arms. 

Even though the construction is easy, you should pay attention to some peg/connection of the runners, because they are quite fragile. I accidentally cut the beam saber holder on Unicorn's backpack. Even though I've finally glued it, I could not use one of the beam saber on the backpack. For accessories, you'll get a beam rifle, an energy pack, a shield and 3 sets of hand. Yes, only 3 hands (2 closed and 1 trigger), quite disappointing. The beam rifle and shield however, are totally cool. They both could be also attached on Unicorn's arms or backpack. 

The articulation of this kit is quite good, even though several parts of the armor are limiting the movement.  The head could move quite high, but somehow looks flimsy in the same time. The best part however comes from its psycho frame. If you put the kit in front of light sources, the psycho frame will look glowing :-)

Well, overall, HGUC Unicorn is a nice kit, even though it lacks the accessories and the ability to transform as its MG counterparts.  Hence, if you want a complete accessories in HG scale, I recommend you to buy also the Unicorn mode of the kit.

RX - 0 Unicorn Gundam

Pros :

• Great design and details for an HG-class gundam kit
• Very cool clear psycho frame parts
• Nice shield and beam rifle

Cons :

• Lacks accessories, especially for extra hands and beam saber parts
• Some parts are fragile, especially the front armor skirts, v-fin on the head and backpack.
• Could not transform, should by the Unicorn mode kit for more playing options and accessories.
